Don Sak To Khanom: Revisited…

… The Great Drone Recce, Part 2.

In yesterday’s article I missed something.

Coming back down the road from the ferry terminal I spotted something out of my left eye. A field with a bunch of statues. When I looked closer, I noticed this was the grounds of a small resort called Wanghin Bungalow. I must have been past there a dozen times without noticing anything strange. Okay, a statue or three wouldn’t count as “strange” but there must have been fifty or more, and there was no sign of the resort…

The resort, not surprisingly is beyond the statue park, next to the sea. It looks quite pleasant…

But, looking at resorts was not what I supposed to be doing. There was no way I would fly a drone at this place. It’s private land, and I imagine once or twice a year people actually stay there. So; back to the recce. Where was I last? Oh yes, Ko Raet. Next on the list was Nangkam Beach

This one I’ll put quite high on my flying list. It has a nice beachfront…

…interesting scenery…

…and a small jetty…

Talking of jetties, my next stop was the small wooden jetty at Talet Bay

Definitely a great location for an aerial video, but a tough one to make. I can visualize flying out through that wooden archway and then straight down the jetty. Except it isn’t. Straight. It’s quite curved through the archway, and there’s very little room to maneuver, and very little treeless open space to take off and land.

A short distance away there’s a very tiny beach…

…which might be large enough for a safe take off, and it would be possible to fly back to the jetty…

…but it would still be a challenge. I need to sleep on this one.

Last on the list was one of the Thong Nian Beaches. I say “one of” because Tong Nian is quite a large area, and has a number of beaches, which don’t seem to have heir own names. To be honest, this one doesn’t have anything too exciting, just some interesting rocks and a nice beach…

But, I’ll keep it on the list, and stop-by whenever I’m in the area, because this is where the pink dolphins are most often seen. That would be quite a sight, looking down on dolphins playing, without disturbing them of course.

So, recce done, notes made, waiting for the good weather to return.
