…Down South.

Now here’s a strange thing. I was just staring at the map of Ko Yao Noi, trying to figure which parts would count as “south” when it occurred to me how much the south of the island looks like the south of Italy…

Maybe that’s why my Italian Chef friend likes living there. Nahh, I bet he hasn’t even noticed.

First off, there’s yet another jetty. Well, not too surprising. The only way to get to the island is by sea. The Manoh Jetty is mostly for the ferries serving Phuket, and since it’s not particularly photogenic, that would probably explain why I can find only one photo taken from the jetty…

Further east is the large cape known as Leam Sai. That’s where my car ferry arrives. There isn’t really a jetty, just a glob of concrete where the boat can drop its ramp. It seems to handle other traffic when the ferry is not around…

There is a jetty of sorts but it looks rather like it’s made of floating Lego blocks…

Just beyond the concrete glob is the Laem Sai Seafood Restaurant…

What a perfect location. Set on the hill with great views. It even has its own jetty so you can arrive by sea.

Sad to report though, it is abandoned and derelict. If location is the most important factor for any real estate, how could it fail?

Alive and well though, further round the cape, is The Good View Restaurant, and you can’t argue with the name…

I’m not sure I’d want to eat there though. It must be incredibly difficult to keep the plates on the tables…

And on that note, we’re finally done with the latest trip to Ko Yao Noi. I stopped off at a couple of places on the way home, which I’ll catch you up with in the next few days.
