…The Great Northern Road Trip 2020 : Day 1
The story starts HERE.
When I decided to stay at the very southern end of Hua Hin, I unexpectedly made a good choice. Just a couple of hundred meters from the beach, and from my hotel, there was a very pleasant lake…
…which had a nice walkway most of the way around…
I needed some exercise. While wandering around, I also found a restaurant that looked like it would offer a good dinner…
I even remembered to go back! Recommended.
As you may have noticed from the first photo, there’s a building in the lake…
I don’t know what it is. I can’t find a name on Google Maps, Google Earth, Tripadvisor or anyone else’s blog. I think it would be wrong to call it a wat because I can’t see how it can perform any religious function – unless you have boat or you’re a good swimmer.
So, I decided to call it a shrine. Khao Tao Shrine, since it’s in the middle of Khao Tao Lake. Makes sense, no? It kind of dominates the view from most vantage points…
…and as you can see, is pretty spectacular at sunset…
And that was it for day 1. Time to head further north.
NEXT: Wat Sam Phran, Nakhon Pathom. The One With The Dragon…
