Twitterings Mobile…

… or Mobile Twitterings if you prefer.

If, like me, you have a small one … mobile phone that is … you’ll know it’s pretty-much impossible to use it to read Twitterings. I still use an iPhone 4S, not one of these things that seems like you are holding a television to your ear. I figured I can’t be the only one who’d like to read Twitterings and other blogs on my phone, so I set about finding a solution.

You may have noticed I use WordPress as my Content Management System of choice. Whilst it sings and dances quite well, it’s certainly not an all-singing all-dancing solution. It needs help to do certain things, and one of those things is working well on mobile devices.

The helper I found, and am now using (called a “plugin”) is WPtouch. The end result is that Twitterings looks totally different on a phone, but then, it has to. The screen size is so much smaller. I think you’ll agree this is a very acceptable solution. Here’s some screen shots.

I’m actually working pretty-much full-time, when I’m not travelling and writing, to make Twitterings a better place to visit. You may have noticed some subtle changes. Ads come and go, so the overall look of the pages changes. I am regularly analyzing which ads get clicked and which don’t, so some stay and some get dumped.

I check page view stats with Webalizer and Google Analytics to see which articles are popular and which are, well, not so popular.

I experimented with comments. But all of the comments received over a couple of months were just spam. People who only wanted to drive traffic to their own blogs. No fair guys. So, comments have been disabled again. I’d be happy to hear from you, so please use the Contact tab above.

I’ve added more information to the top menu bar. Should you be feeling totally bored, you can now found out way more about me than you could a short while ago.

I’ve also added a Travel Index to the top menu bar, so you can quickly find all the places I have been and blogged about.

And I have about a dozen things on my ToDo list, which hopefully will become NowDone things by year end. Twitterings is not perfect, and never will be. But I hope you will see the ongoing improvements, and will enjoy the journey.
