…The Great Northern Road Trip 2020 : Day 10
The story starts HERE.
Okay, so here’s the final color of the day. Some people call it the Black Temple…
…but it’s not a temple at all. More of a museum. In fact there are something like forty buildings, which for me was about thirty-five too many. It’s a creation of national artist, Thawan Duchanee and is part art studio, part museum, part home. Baan Dam is mixture of traditional northern Thai buildings along with some strange modern designs…
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m not an arty person, so maybe I’m incapable of appreciating the architecture. To me it seemed like art for arts sake.
Inside most buildings was a wide variety of carved objects…
I’m guessing that looking at the photographs you’re thinking, well, that looks quite interesting, and you’d be right. But keep in mind the place is huge and it took about two hours to see it all. As I implied at the beginning, it’s too much of a good thing.
Oh, and lucky me, I happened to enter the place right behind a group of about ten ladies. Every time I decided to take a photo, there they were, right in my line of sight. Of course, they had to take ten photos of the building, one hundred selfies, and then take ten minutes to decide where to go next. Am I exaggerating? A little.
And we’re not done with Day 10 yet. Fasten your seat belt. We’re on the move again.
